Rebranding Girls Be Strong
Brand identity · wordmark and emblem · campaign banner

I led the rebranding of Girls Be Strong. The organisation works under one line, let girls be girls, not brides, and the job of the new identity was to carry that sentence without getting in its way.
What the rebrand had to carry
An identity around that sentence has exactly two ways to fail: it can be so soft that it looks like a greetings card, or so heavy that nobody wants to wear it. What I aimed for was something a fifteen-year-old would put on a bag without explaining it, because the sentence is doing the arguing and the design only has to survive being carried around.
The marks
The result is a heavy, hand-cut wordmark and a raised-fist emblem, built to work in a small set of colourways: purple, pink, coral and grey. The same marks run from a sticker to a campaign banner.

The field work that followed is written up on its own: Ubuntu Network Hopehill in Uganda 2024 and Ubuntu Network Hopehill in Uganda 2025.
